I am a homeschooling mom who is married to a great guy. I am also a spiritual seeker. I love nature, laughter and chocolate. I blog at How to Nail Jello to a Tree.

When I began home-schooling my youngest daughter a year and a half ago, one of my main goals was for her to continue to expand the unique spirituality inside  her.  On that very first day of our home-schooling journey we read ‘ Incredible You!  10 ways to let your Greatness shine through’ by Dr. Wayne Dyer with Kristina Tracy.

I have long been a fan of Wayne Dyer’s books and was thrilled to find he was writing children’s books as well.  Incredible You  is based on his book for adults, 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace, which he wrote for his own children.

We read Incredible You when my daughter was seven years old and she thoroughly enjoyed it.  I liked that it is one of those kinds of books that spark amazing conversations between us about really deep concepts such as, “What is my purpose in being here?”  Yes, seven-year old children do have the ability to ponder such questions.

One of my favorite ideas in Incredible You is “Good thoughts give you energy”.  I like that Dr. Dyer is teaching children in a very gentle and simple way they can choose to change their thoughts in order to change their lives for the better.

Incredible You empowers children to believe in themselves and have a positive attitude.  It shows them the importance of being able  to talk to someone when they have problems and encourages them to have some alone time occasionally.  In addition to the ten main ideas of the book there is a question and answer section at the back to get children thinking about how those ideas apply to them personally.

This book was illustrated by Melanie Siegel and she did a wonderful job of bringing the ideas to life.  In fact, as I was preparing to write this post my now 9-year old daughter picked up the book and thumbed through it , commenting on how much she liked the pictures.

I may just have to read it to her again at bedtime.
