Speaking, teaching, providing seminars, writing and life coaching are avenues I use to pursue a passionate goal of equipping, empowering and encouraging others to make life changes.

A successful school day begins at home.  Far too often, I have encountered the stressed, anxious, and broken face of a child who had a bad morning at home.

You can’t trust that the school personnel will be able to teach, when the child is preoccupied with remnants of his morning.

We all have rough starts to the day, but we can place some things into our mornings that will help us better manage our time and efforts.

Set the day up for Success

  • Commit to having peace in the mornings, it affects the whole day.
  •  Get everything ready the night before, put school materials in a place that won’t be forgotten
  • Breakfast, try to make it a priority
  • Don’t bring up stressful topics in the morning
  • If you had a stressful evening, do what you can to bring them to a state of peace before they leave for school
  • If you know your child had a rough start to the morning, send a quick heads up to the teacher.

I know from a parent perspective, that when my family had a rushed and negative morning, my day generally continued in that direction.  It is a horrible feeling  to arrive at work with a mask of guilt marring your day.  I have found it helpful to give myself  a mindful attitude adjustment, before I put my feet on the floor.

Until next time, may peace guard your heart and mind.
